A Study of Development and Its Effectiveness of Transactional Analysis Group Counseling Program for Theft Adolescents

Abstract
This study was conducted to develop and verify its effectiveness of transactional analysis(T.A) group counseling program for theft adolescents. The Model of T.A program development was based on previous studies and literature reviews. Subjects of the study consisted of adolescents who were caught in the act of theft, afterthen recommended to receive correctional counseling and education at Youth Counseling and Welfare Center in Busan in 2011, instead of being sentenced to legal punishment. A group of 20 adolescents were participated in control group while another group of 23 counterparts in experimental group. In order to verify its effectiveness, scales were used including ego state, a life attitude, peer conformity, and self-esteem scale. The results were as follows. First, scores of the experimental group displayed significantly higher in self-esteem than the control group. Second, the scores of ego states, life attitude, and peer conformity did not showed significant difference between the two groups. Conclusions and its implications were discussed.
